170 years of knowledge and know-how

Couplet Sugars celebrated in 2017 its 170 years of existence and passion in sugar production. The company manufactured crystal sugar until 1993.  Since then, we have recentered the production on sugar specialities, among which the famous pearl sugar, and of course, brown sugar, Couplet's historic product.

Couplet Sugars is curretnly still a 100% familly company, managed by the 6th generation of Couplet familly.

  • 1847 : Marie-Angélique Couplet-Landrieu starts with her sons Dominique and Benoît the production of sugar in the area of Lille
  • 1890 : Dominique takes over the sugar factory of Wez, near Tournai
  • 1937 : Launching the production of Couplet brown sugars
  • 1987 : Launching the production of pearl sugar 
  • 1992 : Launching the production of fondant powder 
  • 2003 : Couplet sells its crystal sugar activities to Iscal Sugar
  • 2005 : Inauguration of the new production facility for Brown Sugars
  • 2007 : Launch of the white coated pearl sugars
  • 2009 : Launch of the coloured and flavoured coated pearl sugars
  • 2012 : Couplet achieves the FSSC 22000 certification
  • 2013 : launch of coated icing sugar and Beefondant
  • 2015 :  inauguration of a new, state-of the art pearl sugar packaging unit on the site
  • 2016 -2018 : major investments made for the construction of new offices, application center, storage hall and production lines
